Dior Cruise Collection

Last week, the Dior Cruise Collection hit the runway in le Palais des Bulles, halfway between Cannes and Monaco. This collection  was pretty subdued but the setting was absolutely out of this world dreamy. Set in a pink place, surrounded by sea and blue sky, what’s not to love?

The Palace was the invention of the Hungarian architect Antti Lovag. No fan of right angles, Lovag framed the idyllic turquoise, white, and green tropical landscape in rounds and ovals. Though Pierre Cardin was technically the second owner of this marvel, Palais Bulles seems to have been custom-built for him—he long associated himself with Space Age Futurism and appropriately had his first solo success, in 1954, with a bubble dress. Cardin’s presence yesterday was especially apt, as he was head of coats and suits at Christian Dior when the designer launched his house in 1947 with the New Look.

I particularly liked the plaids, with soft,  pastel colors but not too sweet…

The pretty, flowy, summery skirts also caught my attention…

But for me the real kicker was the location and based on the photos I came across on the web and via Instagram, I’m sure that my characters Catherine and Rikash would have adored it and I would have too!
